Police shot tear gas at crowds of protesters and onlookers Tuesday afternoon. One demonstrator was killed Kitengela in southern Nairobi and a journalist at Kenyan television station K24 was shot on the thigh while covering the protests in Nakuru in Central Kenya.

The Youth-led, anti tax hike protests continue despite President William Ruto's announcement on 26 June that he would not assent proposed finance bill and firing the Cabinet secretaries on July 11, 2024. The state-funded Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) has reported that at least 50 people have died and 413 were injured in relation to the protests.
