  • Ocean Rebellion protesters hold fish cut-out placards and a banner expressing their opinions during the 'World Fisheries Day' demonstration. Demonstrators from Ocean Rebellion staged a peaceful protest outside the Ministries of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality this afternoon; this was in collaboration with OCEANA. Actions also took place in London and Brussels. Ocean Rebellion believe that the fishing quota should be reduced by 80 percent and, only local fishing communities that are dependent on a sea-catch should be granted fishing permits. Interworlds, industrial fishing is to stop. Ocean Rebellion says: 'Not enough control is placed on the Port of Rotterdam which has no check on illegally caught fish that enters the Netherlands, and this only encourages overfishing'. They go on to say: Do not remain blind to the many reports from the UN, EU committees and stop ignoring ICES science-based advice.
