Thousands take part in the first day of a week of worldwide 'climate strikes', part of the youth-led 'Fridays for Future' movement that was begun by Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg. In London, Organisers say they expect more than 2,400 such demonstrations to be held from today until September 27 in what is being billed as a 'Global Week For Future'. A 7.8-magnitude quake struck southeastern Turkey, which was followed by a second quake of 7.7 in northern Syria. More than 50,000 people are reported to have died due to the quakes, and the death toll is still rising. This earthquake damaged 25,000 buildings which are not safe to live in. Hence, 250,000 residents are left homeless after the earthquake. These residents take shelter in a tent made of linoleum or in safe shelters.
