The restoration of St. Thomas Syriac Orthodox Church originally dating back to the 7th century was part of the Mosul Mosaic initiative aimed at preserving the city's diverse cultural heritage. The project commenced in 2019, led by L'Œuvre d'Orient in collaboration with the State Board of Antiquities and Heritage, the French Institut National du Patrimoine (INP) and the Syriac Orthodox Archdiocese. Funded by the ALIPH Foundation, the restoration included structural repairs, preservation of religious artifacts and community engagement efforts.
