People carry portraits of their relatives who participated in World War II during the "Immortal Regiment" march on Victory Day along Nevsky Prospect. Victory Day parade at Palace Square to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany in World War II. The parade featured over 5,500 military personnel, including St. Petersburg garrison troops, emergency services, cadets, and a unique unit of Cossacks honoring their historical role in defending Leningrad. More than 90 units of military equipment were displayed, and veterans were invited, with around 400 receiving invitations. Access to Palace Square was by invitation only, but spectators could watch from areas like the Alexander Garden and Palace Embankment. The event coincided with a massive Immortal Regiment march along Nevsky Prospekt, with approximately one million participants carrying portraits of WWII relatives.
