The protest was held on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi near Jantar Mantar, New Delhi. The current controversy centres on the revision and verification of electoral rolls, including the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). According to Indian political analysts, around 130 million voters’ names have been removed from electoral rolls during the recent SIR process. The reasons behind the removal of voters’ names have become a major political controversy. As a result, opposition political parties have been protesting against India’s Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar.
