Members of emergency services work to contain a fire in the aftermath of a Russian missile and drone attack on September 8, 2026 in Kyiv, Ukraine. According to local authorities, the attack caused destruction and fires across at least five districts of the capital, resulting in at least two fatalities and seven injuries. Air defense forces reported the interception of two ballistic missiles, 31 cruise missiles, and 142 drones. Debris strikes also caused severe damage to residential buildings, warehouses, and an educational facility in the Holosiivskyi and Solomianskyi districts, where emergency services worked to rescue trapped residents.
