Effigy to Cremate the dead in Kathmandu, Nepal by Skanda Gautam / SOPA Images
Suraj, originally from Sindhupalchok, was involved in an import-export and transport business in Timure, Rasuwa, and was swept away by the floods. He is survived by his wife, Ayusha Timilsina, 27, their six-year-old son and three-year-old daughter. As thousands remain missing and many bodies have yet to be recovered, families have begun performing final rites for loved ones without their remains. The floods have killed more than 1,000 people in Nepal and left 3,916 missing, including 583 foreign nationals.
