Members of the Amhara community held a protest against what they describe as an ongoing campaign of ethnic cleansing and genocide against the Amhara people by the Ethiopian government.
The Amhara are one of Ethiopia's largest ethnic groups. Since armed conflict escalated between government forces and the Fano militia in the Amhara region in April 2023, rights groups and Amhara diaspora organisations have accused Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's government of mass killings, displacement and drone strikes against Amhara civilians, allegations the Ethiopian government denies. The conflict has prompted repeated demonstrations by the Amhara diaspora in London and other cities calling for international intervention.
