On the afternoon of the 28th of June, Varsovians cool and hydrate themselves around the city during a record-breaking heatwave. Due to the extreme heat, the authorities provided misting sprays and water tanks around the city. During the weekend, Warsaw experienced temperatures approaching 38°C as the unprecedented European heatwave swept across Poland, roughly 15°C above the late-June average. Tropical nights, nationwide heat alerts, and temperatures up to 40.5°C elsewhere in the country made this one of the most extreme heat events in modern Polish history.
