Hong Kong national security police raided Hunter Bookshop in Sham Shui Po on 24 June 2026 and arrested Leticia Wong Man-huen, the bookshop’s owner and a former pro-democracy district councilor, along with a 38-year-old male colleague. The pair were arrested on suspicion of committing acts with seditious intent under the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance, while Wong was also arrested on suspicion of dealing with property known or believed to represent proceeds of an indictable offence. Police alleged the bookshop displayed and sold publications that incited hatred against the Hong Kong government, judiciary and law enforcement agencies, and that the suspects had received funding from foreign political organisations. Officers searched the bookstore and the suspects' residences, seizing books, electronic devices, bank documents and other materials.
