The Anti-War Committee of Russia is an association of Russian opposition politicians, journalists, human rights advocates, activists and public figures opposing the war in Ukraine and the policies of Vladimir Putin. The committee describes Russia’s invasion as a war crime and advocates for democratic change in Russia. The organization coordinates anti-war initiatives among Russian exiles and opposition groups abroad, publishes political statements, organizes conferences and public discussions, and engages with European politicians and international institutions. One of its main projects, “Ark,” provides assistance to Russians who left the country because of the war and political persecution. In Russia, the Anti-War Committee has been designated first as an “undesirable organization” and later as a “terrorist organization.” Criminal cases have been opened against several of its members. Despite this, the committee continues its public activities in Europe, including events linked to PACE, public campaigns, forums and cooperation with independent Russian media and human rights initiatives.
