On April 19, Russia celebrates for the first time the Day of Remembrance of the Genocide of the Soviet People during the Great Patriotic War. The memorable date is set by a federal law signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. One of the central sites dedicated to this date is the memorial complex in the village of Zaitsevo, Gatchina district, Leningrad region. The monument was erected in memory of the peaceful citizens of the USSR who became victims of the Nazi policy of genocide in the period 1941-1945.
