Middle East conflict disrupts global fertilizer supplies in Srinagar
The ongoing Iran-Israel conflict has disrupted global fertilizer supplies, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route that handles roughly one-third of the world’s traded fertilizers. Analysts warn that up to 25 to 35 percent of global urea and ammonia exports are at risk due to shipping disruptions and military activity in the region. Prices have already surged by more than 30 percent in some markets, raising input costs for farmers, threatening crop yields across the Northern Hemisphere, and increasing pressure on global food security.
