No Kings march, Rome, Italy by Maria Giulia Molinaro Vitale / SOPA Images
People took to the streets in Rome to protest against the "kings" of the world, that is, the presidents who want and fund wars. According to mainstream Italian media, 200k people marched. The march was supposed to end in San Giovanni square, but it continued the "tangenziale", one of the main arteries of Rome, going towards the Verno square, in front of the famous cemetery. Even if there has been some problems with protesters coming to Rome from all over the country (check points on highways, etc) the protest in the city was pacific, with little police presence, which surely played a great role in avoiding tensions.
