Freedom Day (Dzien Voli) is one of the most important dates observed by the Belarusian opposition. It marks the March 25, 1918 declaration of independence of the Belarusian Democratic Republic. Belarusian authorities reported to intimidate members of the diaspora worldwide, warning they may be identified and that their relatives or property in Belarus could face repercussions. As a result, some participants choose to conceal their faces.
