The bill which was passed by the Lok Sabha is described as an attempt to strip trans people across India of fundamental rights and dignity. it drastically narrows down the definition of who can be legally recognised as transgender. it moves away from the globally accepted inclusive definition that covers anyone whose gender identity doesn't match the sex they were assigned at birth.
