The term "sonidero" doesn't have a specific creator; it simply emerged as a popular expression to describe the DJ, the music operator, and the person responsible for creating the atmosphere at public dances known as sonidero events. Their defining characteristic is the playing of recorded music from tropical genres such as Colombian cumbia, guaracha, rumba, salsa, son montuno, and many other rhythms.
