Ten years after her assassination, Berta Caceres, an indigenous Lenca leader, feminist, and environmentalist, was murdered for her opposition to the Agua Zarca hydroelectric dam on the night of Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at her home in Honduras. In 2015, Berta Caceres received the Goldman Environmental Prize.
