Several events and a large demonstration were held in Berlin to mark the fourth anniversary of the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine. In the evening, several thousand people marched from Lustgarten through the city center to the Brandenburg Gate, expressing solidarity with Ukraine and calling for continued support. The rally was held under the motto “For Europe’s Future” and organized by the Ukrainian-German association Vitsche. Police estimated around 5,000 participants, while organizers reported a significantly higher number.
The protest route passed by the Russian Embassy, where police presence was reinforced. Participants chanted “Slava Ukraini,” carried Ukrainian flags and anti-war placards. Speeches were delivered in front of the Brandenburg Gate by Ukraine’s ambassador to Germany, Oleksii Makeiev, and Berlin’s Governing Mayor Kai Wegner, who emphasized the need for sustained support for Kyiv. In the evening, the Brandenburg Gate was illuminated in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
