The first hearing of the Cutro shipwreck trial was held in Crotone. Four officers from Italy’s Finance Police (Guardia di Finanza -GDF) and two members of the coastguard are standing trial for charges of manslaughter and negligent shipwreck for the death of 94 migrants after the shipwreck of caicco with nearly 200 people on 26 February 2023 in Steccato di Cutro.
The court had also decided that no audio or video can be recorded by media during hearings.
