For the past two weeks, Iran has experienced sustained, nationwide protests openly challenging the regime established by the 1979 Islamic Revolution. These current demonstrations are fundamentally different from past unrest. They are driven by: Deep-rooted economic collapse and social breakdown. A growing and explicit rejection of the Islamic Republic itself. Iranian society is now described as having moved from mere protest into resistance, with demonstrators risking arrest and death to demand a future free from Islamic rule.
