Storm Francis has prompted a red alert for heavy rainfall in Andalusia region. The State Meteorological Agency activated the red alert at 2:42 PM warning of intense rainfall. The Andalusian regional government also issued a general civil protection alert cautioning residents about the heavy rain and the potential risk of flooding.
A similar situation occurred on December 27, when two people were killed in the town of Alhaurín el Grande. In less than a year, municipalities such as Cártama have experienced up to three flooding events.
