For the past three years, the Christmas Express, a historic steam train, has been running between Arnhem and Nijmegen around Christmas Day. Conductors in period costume were waiting to assist the people with boarding. These historic trains are still heated, traditionally, with steam from the large steam locomotive. The trains were running between the two stations throughout the weekend.
