In the north of Thailand, Loy Krathong coincides with the Lanna (northern Thai) festival known as Yi Peng (or Yee Peng) which mean "Full Moon Day", both celebrations take place at the same time, on the full moon night of the 12th month of the Thai lunar calendar to Worship and ask for forgiveness to Goddess of water Ganga for polluting rivers and also to worship the Buddha's hair pagoda in the heaven.
