Walnut harvesting, which begins in late August and runs through September, is a major agricultural activity in the region. Kashmir accounts for about 98 percent of India’s walnut production, much of it exported to the Middle East, Europe and Asia. Growers say they are worried about falling prices and a decline in demand.
