Following Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan’s proposal to pedestrianise Oxford Street. A car-free day was organised from 12:00 to 20:00 on 21st September 2025. To demonstrate the potential benefits of this initiative, the section between Oxford Circus and Marble Arch was closed to all vehicular traffic including cars, buses and taxis. This marks Mayor Khan’s second attempt to restrict traffic on Oxford Street following considerable opposition to a previous plan in 2018.
