Poland and NATO allied countries held military exercises in training ground. The Iron Defender-25 Exercise (ZELAZNY OBRONCA-25) is the largest and most important training event planned for the Polish Armed Forces. It is a federation of defensive exercises conducted on land, air and on water by the Land Forces, Air Force, Navy, Special Forces and Territorial Defense Forces. Thirty thousand soldiers and 600 pieces of equipment of the Polish Army and NATO allies are participating.
The exercise aims to test the interoperability and capability of the Polish Armed Forces to conduct defensive operations in a multi-domain environment. Officials stress the maneuvers are defensive in nature but note they come as a direct counterpart to Zapad-25, large-scale Russian-Belarusian war games held during the same period.
