Former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Andriy Parubiy who was killed in an assassination was laid to rest. The funeral ceremony began at St. George’s Cathedral where a memorial service was held. Thousands came to say farewell including relatives, colleagues and well-known politicians. After the service, the funeral procession passed through Rynok Square where the traditional bugler from the City Hall tower played. The burial took place at Lychakiv Cemetery. Parubiy was remembered as a symbol of Ukraine’s struggle for independence and one of the organizers of the Maidan Self-Defense. The event became a nationwide farewell to the politician.
