India Post has announced it will discontinue its iconic Registered Post service from September 1 2025, merging it with the Speed Post service and ending a trusted mode of communication that served the nation for more than five decades. The move is part of efforts to modernize postal operations and adapt to changing communication trends. Launched more than 50 years ago, Registered Post became a staple used by government offices, courts and millions of citizens especially in rural India to send job offer letters, legal notices and personal communication with proof of delivery and added security.
