Senegalese residents in Madrid have openly celebrated the 2025 Grand Magal of Touba with the residents of Lavapies. This year, it will be celebrated on August 13th, corresponding to the 18th day of Safar in the Islamic calendar. The Grand Magal of Touba is the most important religious festival of the Mouride Brotherhood in Senegal, a branch of Sufi Islam. It is celebrated annually in the city of Touba to commemorate the life and teachings of its founder, Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba.
