Pro-Palestine and pro-Israel protesters came close to a face off in Melbourne, prompting a large Victoria Police response including public order, mounted, and general duties officers. The pro-Palestine rally, drawing an estimated over1000 participants, marched through the CBD calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, while fewer than 10 members of the pro-Israel Lions of Zion group held a counter-demonstration. Police formed lines to keep the groups apart, with several tense exchanges and arrests taking place during the event.
