Protesters marched through central Melbourne as part of a national day of action demanding a ceasefire in Gaza. Organized by Free Palestine Coalition Naarm, the demonstration moved from the State Library towards King Street Bridge but was blocked by police before reaching the crossing. Protesters occupied part of King Street still blocking the road. Chanting, banners, and the banging of pots and pans echoed through the city as participants denounced Israel’s actions in Gaza and called for Australian sanctions and an end to military cooperation. A small break away group later blocked Spencer Street Bridge for a short time.
