In Odessa in the evening on Deribasovskaya Street on July 30, 2025, people gathered for a rally calling on the authorities to approve the bill on strengthening the powers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
On July 22, the Verkhovna Rada adopted Law No. 12414 with amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code, according to which NABU and SAP become dependent on the decisions of the Prosecutor General. On the evening of July 22, the president signed the document.
Protests took place in many cities of Ukraine after the adoption of this legislative initiative. After that, Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted a bill to the Verkhovna Rada, which, according to him, will provide "strength to the law and order system" and preserve "all norms for the independence of anti-corruption institutions."
