Italian luxury fashion brand Prada which launched its 'Toe Ring Sandals' is accused of copying the design inspired by Kolhapuri chappals (handcrafted Indian sandal) without giving due credit to indigenous artisans who created them in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra centuries ago. A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in Bombay High Court seeking compensation for Kolhapuri chappal (handcrafted Indian sandal) artisans from Prada.
