India will conduct a large-scale civil defense drill titled 'Operation Shield' on May 31 across all districts along its western border, including Indian-administered Kashmir, to test readiness for potential hostile attacks. The mock drills, organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs, will include simulations of air raids, drone and missile strikes, blackouts, troop mobilization, mass casualty management and evacuation of civilians. Civil and military agencies, along with youth volunteers, will participate in the coordinated response.The exercise aims to strengthen security and emergency response in vulnerable border regions.
