A statue of Bernard Tapie was unveiled on the forecourt of the Vélodrome stadium. Entitled "Forever the First," the work depicts Bernard Tapie carried in triumph by his players Basile Boli, Eric Di Méco, Didier Deschamps, Marcel Desailly, Franck Sauzée, and Fabien Barthez, holding aloft the Champions League trophy won in 1993.
