The "Girona Manifesto Conference" was organized by the Kurdish Pen with the support of the International Pen and the Diyarbakir Metropolitan Municipality in Diyarbakir in Turkey. About 200 writers and academics discussed the problems of the Kurdish language in Turkey, where the Kurdish language is not officially recognized, and in other countries where Kurdish is spoken at the conference.
