Some homes were damaged in the exchange, prompting authorities to relocate civilians from vulnerable areas. Frequent cross-border shelling has forced many families to live in constant fear along the heavily militarized frontier. India and Pakistan engaged in intense artillery exchanges along their border, marking the deadliest confrontation between the two nuclear-armed rivals in over 20 years. The escalation followed India's launch of Operation Sindoor, a series of missile strikes targeting locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Islamabad reported that the Indian attacks, along with subsequent cross-border shelling, resulted in at least 26 civilian deaths and dozens of injuries. Meanwhile, Indian authorities stated that retaliatory Pakistani fire claimed the lives of at least 10 people and wounded several others in Indian-administered Kashmir.
