India and Pakistan engaged in intense artillery exchanges along their border, marking the deadliest confrontation between the two nuclear-armed rivals in over 20 years. The escalation followed India’s launch of Operation Sindoor, a series of missile strikes targeting locations in Pakistan’s Punjab province and Pakistan side of Kashmir. Islamabad reported that the Indian attacks, along with subsequent cross-border shelling, resulted in at least 26 civilian deaths and dozens of injuries. Meanwhile, Indian authorities stated that retaliatory Pakistani fire claimed the lives of at least 10 people and wounded several others in Indian side of Kashmir.
