India Blows Up Homes Of Militants Suspected In Tourist Attack In Kashmir
Indian soldiers blew up the homes of three more active militants in Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam, accused of carrying out the region’s deadliest civilian attack in decades. A massive manhunt is underway for those responsible for killing 26 tourists, including two foreigners, in an off-road meadow in scenic Pahalgam. Tensions between India and Pakistan have soared, with New Delhi blaming Pakistani militant groups, a charge Islamabad denies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pledge to track down the attackers has led to mass detentions in Kashmir. India’s withdrawal from the Indus Waters Treaty and Pakistan’s closure of its airspace have pushed relations between the nuclear armed rivals to a new low.
