Gajan is a Hindu festival celebrated mostly in the rural part of West Bengal. The festival is related to Lord Shiva and as per Mythology on the last day of Bengali Calendar (Middle of April) devotees used to worship dead bodies to satisfy Lord Shiva for better rain and harvest. The central theme of this festival is deriving satisfaction through non-sexual pain, devotion and sacrifice.
