Demonstrators in Manhattan protested against the Trump administration for cutting funds to medical care and research. Demonstrators also criticized Elon Musk, the head of the Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE, for firing federal employees and cutting federal services. According to the protesters, federal cuts to funds that go to the National Institutes of Health harm medical research of illnesses including cancer, Alzheimer's disease and diabetes. Protesters also said the cuts will harm education for university students seeking to become doctors and nurses.
