On March 28, 2025, a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar triggered strong tremors causing the collapse of a 33-story under-construction skyscraper near Chatuchak Park. At least eight people have been confirmed dead with many more injured.
Rescue operations continued on March 29 as numerous workers remained unaccounted for. Signs of life were detected from 15 individuals trapped in the rubble of the State Audit Office building in Chatuchak district while 47 workers are still missing their identities yet to be confirmed.
