The ceremony consists of a 30-meter mast climb, followed by the launch of the dancers, who attach themselves with ropes to descend to the ground. It is particularly practiced in the state of Veracruz. The Danza de los Voladores was named an Intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2009.
