Every week, St. Paul and St. Andrew church in Manhattan, New York provides legal and administrative advice and distribute basic necessities to some 100 immigrant families, most of them Latin American. Prior to Donald Trump's inauguration on January 20, schools, hospitals and churches were considered “sensitive locations” that could not be targeted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations. But the day after taking office, the Trump administration ended this thirty-year-old policy, leaving the way clear for immigration raids. An interfaith union, including 27 Christian and Jewish congregations has launched a lawsuit against the Trump administration claiming a violation of the First Amendment to the US Constitution and a federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
