Tens of thousands of visitors celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year in London’s Chinatown. Noted for being the largest Chinese New Year festival outside of Asia, the weekends celebration is expected to attract up to 300,000 people. Organized by the LCCA (London Chinatown Chinese Association) the festivities are held across two days, starting on Saturday with lion dancers performing the tradition of taking and then throwing back lettuce. The tradition of throwing lettuce at business owners symbolizes wealth and prosperity in the year to come.
