The Lord Mayor's Parade centres on a three-mile procession that starts at the Guildhall, a tradition that began around 1215, in the era of King John. The 696th Lord Mayor of London will be Alderman Alastair King of the Queenhithe Ward, who took office in the Silent Ceremony, on the day before the Lord Mayor’s Show.
