On March 29, 2024, France had to remove by decree the limit of 200 cigarettes that a smoker was allowed to bring back from another European Union country in order to comply with European law. European regulations set personal consumption at 800 cigarettes (4 cartons), or 400 cigarillos, or 200 cigars and or 1 kilogram of smoking tobacco.
