Ecotourism promotes truce between jaguars and cattle breeders in Brazilian Pantanal. The jaguar is one of the emblems of Pantanal, the world's largest tropical wetland. However, 90% of the region belongs to farmers who have set up cattle farms. Yet cohabitation between farmers and jaguars is difficult, as the jaguars attack their livestock. But over the past fifteen years, the boom in eco-tourism and jaguar-watching safaris has provided a solution to the problem. The jaguar tourist economy is said to bring in up to 56 times more than the financial losses inflicted on breeders.
