The harvesting season of walnut is a major agricultural event in Kashmir. It commences in late August and continues throughout September. Kashmir is the main contributor to India's walnut production accounting for 98% of total walnut production. Kashmiri walnuts are exported to different regions such as the Middle East, Eastern and Western Europe and in Asian countries. Growers and producers of Kashmiri walnuts however are concerned about a drop in demand and falling prices.
